Glendalough - The Glen of the Two Lakes - is a valley famous for its beauty and its historical and archaeological interest. The valley is home to one of Ireland's most atmospheric monastic sites, established by St. Kevin in the 6th century. The area also provides excellent rock- climbing, rough scrambling and ordinary hill walking.

Local Attractions:

The Round Tower in Glendalough, probably the most famous of all the landmarks in County Wicklow, was built almost 1,000 years ago by the monks of St. Kevin’s monastery. St. Kevin founded his monastery in Glendalough in 498 Bray Head - beautiful views Brittas Bay Beach - award winning sandy beaches Meetings of the Waters, Avoca  - a tranquil meeting of two rivers in an area renowned for traditional music.  Home of Ballykissangel. Powerscourt Waterfall,  Enniskerry - the highest waterfall in Ireland Blessington Lakes, Blessington - 5000 acres of tranquil calm waters, many amenities Victoria's Way, Roundwood - an Art and Philosophy park, a chance to take time out. How to find us

Walking Instructions

These are the directions from Glendalough to Riversdale House B&B if you are walking: Turn left out of the Visitors Centre, passing Glendalough Hotel Go over the bridge and follow the road for approximately 300 yards Take the first RIGHT into a small lane, if you reach the Youth Hostel, you have gone too far! In the lane, pass a house called "The Cottage" and continue for about 10 minutes with the river on your right There are several sets of stepping stones, continue until you see our sign for Riversdale House B&B and then cross the river into our grounds. Please Note: After heavy rain the stepping stones are under water, and impassable. Please telephone for advice. Total length of walk - 15 mins.
